Electrical Heat Tracing Systems: Overview

SAGOSI electrical heat tracing (EHT) systems keep pipework and equipment at the right temperature using self-regulating or constant-wattage heating cables. Self-regulating cable adjusts its heat output along its length to match the surrounding temperature, preventing overheating and burnout; constant-wattage cable delivers a fixed output for longer runs and higher-temperature duty. Systems are designed to IEC, IEEE, ATEX and NEC standards.

We supply the complete package — heating cable, control panels, junction boxes and thermostats — with optional SCADA integration for centralised monitoring. Typical applications include pipeline freeze protection, process temperature maintenance, roof and gutter de-icing, underfloor heating and hazardous-area (ATEX) heating, engineered end-to-end for industrial, commercial and infrastructure projects.

Electrical Heat Tracing Systems — Frequently Asked Questions

What is electrical heat tracing used for?

Heat tracing maintains or raises the temperature of pipes, tanks and equipment — most commonly for freeze protection, process temperature maintenance, de-icing and underfloor heating.

What is the difference between self-regulating and constant-wattage cable?

Self-regulating cable varies its output with ambient temperature and cannot burn itself out, ideal for freeze protection. Constant-wattage cable gives a fixed output suited to long runs and higher-temperature maintenance.

Does SAGOSI supply the full heat tracing system?

Yes. We provide a complete package — cable, control panels, junction boxes and thermostats — with SCADA integration available for centralised monitoring.

Are hazardous-area (ATEX) heat tracing systems available?

Yes. Systems are designed to IEC, IEEE, ATEX and NEC standards, including ATEX-rated solutions for hazardous and explosive atmospheres.
