Zero / Minimum Liquid Discharge Evaporators: Overview

SAGOSI Zero / Minimum Liquid Discharge (ZLD/MLD) evaporators are thermal wastewater evaporators engineered to reduce effluent volume and help plants meet statutory MLD and ZLD discharge norms. Built in corrosion-resistant SS316L or Duplex stainless steel with integrated condensate recovery and full automation, they concentrate effluent reliably while recovering clean water for reuse.

The evaporators are fuel-flexible — they run on steam, electricity, LPG, PNG, diesel, thermic fluid or recovered waste heat — so the running cost can be matched to the cheapest energy source on site. Standard capacities cover 20 to 750 LPH, with custom systems above 13.5 KLD on request. SAGOSI delivers the evaporator as a turnkey package: process design, fabrication, installation and commissioning for pharmaceutical, chemical and textile effluent streams.

Zero / Minimum Liquid Discharge Evaporators — Frequently Asked Questions

What does a ZLD / MLD evaporator do?

It applies heat to concentrate industrial effluent, drastically reducing the liquid volume that must be discharged or disposed of, while recovering clean condensate for reuse — the core of meeting MLD and ZLD compliance.

What capacities are available?

Standard models cover 20 to 750 LPH, and custom evaporators above 13.5 KLD are engineered to the specific effluent stream and site.

Which heat sources can the evaporator use?

It is compatible with steam, electricity, LPG, PNG, diesel, thermic fluid or recovered waste heat, so operators can choose the lowest-cost energy source available on site.

What materials are used for corrosion resistance?

Evaporators are built in SS316L or Duplex Stainless Steel and include integrated condensate recovery and full automation for unattended operation.
