STP Duty Requirements
Sewage holding and treatment tanks see chemistry that varies hour by hour — pH shifts, dissolved gases, suspended solids and constant biological activity. The tank must remain dimensionally stable, structurally sound and free from corrosion for decades. Bolted steel construction with the right liner system delivers exactly this combination.
Typical STP Applications
- Raw sewage equalisation tanks at the head of the treatment train
- Aeration tanks for activated sludge treatment
- Anaerobic digesters with appropriate coating selection
- Treated effluent storage prior to discharge or reuse
- Sludge holding and thickening tanks
Why Zincalume for Sewage Service
- Robust steel substrate withstands hydrostatic loads of high-capacity treatment tanks
- Multi-layered liner system isolates aggressive effluent from the steel shell
- Bolted construction allows site assembly without on-site welding — important on operating treatment plant sites
- Tank can be dismantled and relocated if the treatment plant is reconfigured or expanded
- Designed life of 40+ years — far longer than the typical operational life of treatment-plant infrastructure
Coating Considerations
For raw sewage and aggressive treated effluent, the liner selection matters. Our engineering team will recommend the right combination — standard reinforced liner for less aggressive duties, or upgraded epoxy or GFS coating for high-pH or high-H2S service. Specify the inlet effluent chemistry when you enquire and we will propose the right system.
